I am NOT leaving this book a poor review because it's NOT a fantastic read for adults and children alike. This particular print of the book is VERY cheap. It is almost completely unreadable. The ink is quite pale with EXTREMELY fine print....I am talking maybe 6 point font. Not only is the ink not black, or even dark gray, but the PAPER IS NOT WHITE. If you are going to get this book, then you will need to hold a magnifying glass and a flashlight to read it.EXTREMELY disappointed. I bought a copy because my son does not like reading on line because it strains his eyes....It can be downloaded and read for free online at Project Gutenberg.
I should have just spent the money on toner and printed it out myself.
I know the pic is not the best quality, but my camera couldn't even focus well on it because the print is so faint and small.

Nobody Boy Hector Malot 9781484905548 Books Reviews
My girlfriend who is 75 had told me that when she was in school the nuns would read this nook. She could not believe that I found an original copy on . Makes me happy as this lady helped my mother before she died. I am glad that I could make someones day.
One of my favorite books from my childhood. Bought it for a friend's kid and he loved it too.
A masterpiece that was written about 100 years ago and it still is a wonderful addition to your children’s library.
I read this book and the book "Nobody's Girl" when I was a child. I am now a children's librarian and when I remembered these books I looked for them for the and I was delighted to find them both. After reading books such as "Walter the Farting Dog" and other books of the same ilk I was tired of reading books that really seemed to have nothing to offer my students except some toilet humor. These books are both examples of wonderful literature and offer a view of another time and a different life for children. I can't wait to get hard copies of these books to share with my students in a book club.
This bok was so cool. The ending was the best. I love that he found his real Mom and brother and theey accepted all his road family. Sweet. I like this type book.
Apparently this edition of book has been abridged and I would have preferred to have the whole text. It is a quick read because they have cut it down to the bare bones of the story and left out all the excess wordy passages. Occasionally you will detect that something is missing. However, it is still quite a pleasant story for children and adults alike. I had fond memories of escaping with the author's other book Nobody's Girl as a youngster when we were staying in a drab hotel while waiting to move into a new house. I only recently learned of the male counterpart while browsing .
This is a much loved story, which was part of my early childhood. It was read to us at school in Holland, translated into Dutch from the original French. I re-read this recently, and was keen to find an English translation, in order to introduce my English grandchildren to the book. I was delighted to find there was such a translation and was pleased with the efficient service from . HOWEVER, I was thoroughly disappointed with the product. It is an atrocious translation, brutally abridged, cutting much of the dialogue in every section, therefore completely losing the sense of history and 'French-ness'. The original is an epic story of courage and sorrow and hope lost and regained. It introduces us to the French landscape and gives us valuable glimpses of history and social structures. Do not waste your money buying this. Read the original, or wait till somebody does a proper translation!
